While multi-billion dollar corporations get bailed out by the government, where is the average American, especially struggling moms, to turn to for financial assistance in these tough economic times? The answer may surprise you.

In the past, the government has been the most reliable source for financial aid but recently private institutions offering scholarships have moved to the forefront. Qualifications for these scholarships are far less restrictive and unlike government aid, the monies can be used for whatever purpose you deem fit.

Go Back to School

Finish Your Degree

Child Care Expenses

Even, Pay Off Debt

You can see why these private scholarships are becoming increasingly more popular. With popularity comes competition. Below you will find information about a $10,000 scholarship just for moms. The registration deadline is fast approaching, so don’t delay.

Name: Alisha Brown

Hometown: Pembroke Pines, FL

Drawing Date: Jan 23, 2009

“I grew up watching my mother work two, sometimes three, jobs at a time and still struggle to support two children on her own. She always pushed us to do our best to succeed. So in my mind not going to college was not an option for me, however as I finished high school and looked into financing, I could not see my dream of being a college graduate began to fade. As I would look in the mirror, I saw history repeating itself. Here I was, a single mother, earning just above minimum wage, still waiting for the opportunity to go to college.

Even with student loans tuition has been out of my reach but I never stopped hoping and searching for a way to make it happen. That’s when I happened across freeccollegescholarships.net’s/scholarships4moms.net $10,000 drawing which I entered. Nearly two weeks later I received a phone call stating that I had been chosen as the winner. I was so excited, I did not know what to say or how to react. I could not believe it! Now, with the help of freecollegescholarships.net/scholarships4moms.net I can go to college, pursue a degree in nursing and career I can be proud of, and give my son an understanding of how far persistence can take him. “

Name: Terri Booth

Hometown:Delaware

Attending School: Daughter attending University of DE

“I saw this ad to sign up for a drawing for a scholarship and thought, I probably won’t win, but at least I will get my name on some lists and find out about more scholarships for my children. Get this, I won, I really won! Thank you Scholarships4moms.net, I was the winner of a drawing and I can now help my daughter pay for her first year in the University near our home, plus I can go back to school. I have wanted to go back and finish my degree in Deaf Education since I work in a school for the deaf. I thought I had to wait until my daughter was out of college to even think about going back to school myself. Now I am able to do both, only because of Scholarships4moms.net”

If you’re serious about getting ahead in life, now is the time to act. Again, the registration deadline is August 16, 2010.

Scholarships: Earn to Learn

Scholarships are gifts. They don’t need to be repaid. There are thousands of them, offered by schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, religious groups, and professional and social organizations.

Some scholarships are merit based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards set by the scholarship-giver. They might be awarded based on academic achievement, or a combination of academics and a special talent, trait or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need.

Grants: Need and Receive

Grants are also gifts, but they’re usually based on financial need.

Most often, grant aid comes from federal and state governments and individual colleges. Available federal grants include:

Pell Grant. These are federal grants awarded to undergraduate students.

ACG. The Academic Competitiveness Grant is for college freshmen and sophomores who are eligible for Pell Grants and who took “rigorous” classes in high school.

FSEOG. The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

National SMART Grant. The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant is awarded to college juniors and seniors who are eligible for Pell Grants and are majoring in mathematics, technology, engineering, a foreign language critical to national security or physical, life or computer sciences. Students must also have grade point averages of at least 3.0 in their majors to be eligible.

TEACH Grant. The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant is for students who plan to teach in schools that serve low-income students.

Fast Fact: There’s more grant money available now than 10 years ago.

Institutional Grants

There are other grants in addition to ours. Colleges provide institutional grants to help make up the difference between college costs and what a family can be expected to contribute through income, savings, loans, and student earnings.

Other institutional grants, known as merit awards or merit scholarships, are awarded on the basis of academic achievement. Some merit awards are offered only to students whose families demonstrate financial need; others are awarded without regard to a family’s finances.

Some grants come with special privileges or obligations. You’ll want to find out about the types of grants awarded by each college you are considering.

$10,000 Scholarship for Single Moms Can Help. Takes 60 Seconds. Deadline is August 16. Register Today.

In today’s turbulent economic landscape, it’s difficult for a single mother to pay for daycare, schooling and bills all by herself. Often times, personal dreams and aspirations are put on hold in order to provide for her family because we all live in the moment not the future. Fortunately, the US government, along with various private organizations, are offering the gift of financial freedom through grants and scholarships for single mothers.

President Obama stated: “We need to put a college education within reach of every American. That’s the best investment we can make in our future.”

The importance of having a college degree has never been greater and money for college has never been more abundant. Here’s what you need to know.

What are Government Grants?

Grants are a form of financial assistance offered to individuals, organizations, groups and companies. They are not the same as loans or free money, as some misleading infomercials tend to define it. Grants can come from the 26 Federal Grant making agencies of the government or from various organizations.

Drawbacks and an Alternative

While government education grants are by far the most notable forms of financial aid, they are not the easiest to qualify for. The application process is rather tedious. And no, completing an application doesn’t guarantee you financial aid. This option is not to be overlooked but we believe scholarships are the way to go. We recommend registering for this $10,000 scholarship for single mothers. Registration takes less than 90 seconds and you’re also given access to a wealth of information about securing even more money for college. Deadline for registration is August 16, 2010, so hurry!

The Importance of Education

Single mothers often neglect their education because they are unable to pay for skyrocketing cost of college tuition. All hope is not lost single moms, for the government and private organizations are willing to invest in your future. A better education opens new doors to better opportunities. Scholarships for single mothers abound! Take your first step towards getting a college education today, in order to secure a better tomorrow.

All Reasons To Finally Get Your College Degree. $10,000 Scholarship for Moms Deadline is August 16. Takes 60 Seconds. Register Today.

President Barack Obama said “We need to put a college education within reach of every American. That’s the best investment we can make in our future.” With that quote in mind, more and more organizations, along with the US government, have offered different college grants and scholarships for single moms and other individuals. The promise of success and the promise of security drive people to attain a college education and degree, but with many Americans facing financial hardships, the cost of higher education can be a major hurdle. Student grants for single moms, or educational grants, make it possible for single moms who are earning a meager income to go back to school without having to worry about the financial burden of rising college costs.

What are Educational Grants?

In general, a grant is an award or form of financial assistance whose purpose is to convert a thing of value from a Federal agency to a recipient to carry out a public purpose or incentive which is authorized by the US Law. These grants may be associated with a company, state, local or tribal government, research institution or academia, non-profit organizations and any other kind of institution. Educational grants are simply a financial assistance subcategory for higher education.

Who is Eligible for These Grants?

As an individual, if you are a US citizen or from the United States or United States Territory, and have resided in the US or US Territory for at least 3 years prior to an application, you are eligible. Foreign nationals are also free to apply, provided they follow the eligibility guidelines.

Where Can I Find Such Grants?

Universities and colleges will always have information available when it comes to student grants for single moms and other scholarship programs. Check with your local colleges and/or universities to inquire about the different programs available and to see which one would give you enough money for college.

If you are an employee already but have intentions of going back to school, discuss your intentions with your employer. Employer based tuition reimbursement programs can help pay a portion of an employee’s tuition provided that certain requirements and criteria are met. One big example is the The Wal-Mart Foundation. Fortune 500 companies are likely to have similar programs.

Are There Any Other Sources?

Filing and submitting the FAFSA or Free Application for Student Aid will help you determine sources of other student grants such as the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, scholarships and low interest student loans. After submission, you will be given a SAR or Student Aid Report which includes the answers you filed in your FAFSA, and will also include your EFC or Expected Family Contribution.

The EFC is a measure of one’s financial strength, and is used to determine eligibility for federal student aid. The school that one is attending will use this number to determine how much aid one gets based on the fees associated with the school. The Internet and public library is also a good source research tool in your search for student grants and financial aid programs.

Single moms don’t need to work themselves to the bone to pay their own way through college. These grants and scholarships for single moms not only shoulder the financial burden of a college education, but they also make it possible for single moms and other individuals to better secure their financial futures, as well as their children’s.

It’s All Possible With $10,000 Scholarship for Moms.

Shelter is one of the most important necessities in life, going hand in hand with food and clothing. Single mothers are a fast rising statistic today. Paying for housing, food and clothing can be a challenge for single parent homes.

What are Grants?

Grants, as they are commonly known, are a form of financial assistance for an individual, group, or organization. There are over 1000 different grant programs offered by the 26 federal grant making agencies, which individuals or groups can avail of. There are also grants offered by different organizations as well.

Who’s Eligible?

An individual must submit a grant application on his/her own behalf, and not on behalf of a group, company, institution or government. Individuals are expected to sign the grant application and its associated certifications, along with assurances that are required and necessary for the application process. Citizens of the US or US Territory who have lived in the US or US Territory for at least 3 years prior to submitting an application are eligible for a grant.

Don’t Despair – The Government Can Help!

There are various types of government assistance for single mothers available, each with different purposes: loans, grants, medical assistance and housing. Depending on the needs of a single mother, these grants are sure to ease her struggles when it comes to her finances. Putting food on the table won’t be so hard since the government offers food assistance programs. Earning your college degree is possible with the multitude of government educational grants and scholarships for single mothers available today.

How Can the Government Help Single Moms With Housing?

Financial aid is given by the government to people who need it. If you are a single mother who needs help with finding government housing, the best place to turn is the Internet. Since programs change annually, one needs to do thorough research on what type of housing grants or subsidies the government is offering. It’s a matter of finding the right housing grant/program for you, then filing for an application. Some government grants offer financial assistance by covering a portion of your housing costs.

Other Sources of Assistance for Single Mothers

Aside from government assistance, one may also look into various non-profit organizations that offer aid for single mothers or for women in need, like subsidized housing for single mothers. These organizations may be churches, battered women organizations and various donation funded social services. Once again, a great means of finding these funding sources is through the Internet.

There are also sites devoted to helping single mothers, whether financially or just to point them to the right direction. Join forums about assistance for single mothers and ask around for the different grants and housing for single mothers available. You should look into any housing grant lead you find on the Internet, and once you find the right one, ensure you’re eligibility and then apply. Here’s to your success.

All Reasons To Finally Get Your College Degree. $10,000 Scholarship for Moms Deadline is August 16. Takes 60 Seconds. Register Today.

Mothers, especially single mothers, find it difficult to balance the things that need to be done at home and things that need to be done in school or at work. Majority of all instances, home always comes first, leaving work and school tasks to suffer. In a time of financial hardships, paying for college while putting food on the table and paying the bills is almost an impossible feat. But single mothers need not worry anymore. Going back to college will be easy as pie with the different grants and scholarships for single mothers offered by various organizations and the government.

I Know What a Scholarship is, but What is a Grant?

Grants are a form of award or financial assistance, offered to both individuals, groups, companies and organizations. They are not to be confused with loans or free money, as erroneously pitched in infomercials. A grant’s primary purpose is to transport a thing of value from a federal agency to a recipient in order to carry out a public support or incentive authorized by a law of the United States.

Can a Single Mother be Eligible for These Grants?

Yes, a single mother can be eligible for grants by applying as an individual. By signing up as an individual, they must sign on their own behalf, and not on behalf of the government, group, or organization. They are also expected to comply with the requirements and assurances that come with the application, and they can only avail of the grants that are open to individuals.

Different Opportunities Make for Different Doors

With single mothers in dire need of financial aid, scholarship providers recognize that single parents need help if they are to pay for school. That is why there are many grants and scholarships for single mothers, created specifically to help make a college education more accessable and affordable. Scholarship providers are making it possible for single moms to create a more secure financial future for them and for their children.

Here are some of the scholarship opportunities and programs that one may look into:

The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund

Single parent scholarships are awarded to single eligible parents who are residents of Arkansas.

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation Scholarship Program

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation has awarded over 500 scholarships to women who want to attend college since 1978. Applications are available from the month of November to February. This scholarship may not directly target single moms, but they would be the subset of the “single women 35 and older” category.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation for Low Income Women and Children

The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation, which was established in 2003, aims to carry on Congressman Mink’s commitments: educational access, support and opportunity for low income women, especially mothers and educational enrichment for children.

W.I.S.P. Change Your World Scholarship

Doris Buffer, president and founder, announced in March 2007 a new scholarship program of the Sunshine Lady Foundation for the sons and daughters of the Women’s Independence Scholarship Program (WISP). People at WISP believe that students who are willing to learn, work hard, motivated and capable should have the opportunity at earning a college degree. These scholarships are for those who show the greatest promise of success, in financial need and have education as their number one priority.

President Obama stated “We need to put a college education within reach of every American. That’s the best investment we can make in our future.” These college grants and scholarships for single moms are the best possible way for a mom to earn a degree, thereby securing their own financial future, as well as her family’s.

Being a single mother can be a daunting and fearful experience. There are always things to worry about, problems to solve, and things to do and sometimes these may even happen simultaneously. The fear of running out of resources to put food on the table, pay for the bills or buy the necessities is an overwhelming fear that every single mother shares. It’s important for them to know that they are not alone – with different types of financial aid for single mothers available, they can sleep easy at night.

What Are Grants?

Grants, as they are commonly known, are a form of financial assistance for single mothers. However, it is not a benefit or an entitlement. There are over 1000 different grants that an individual, such as a single mother, group or organizations can avail of, from the 26 Federal Grant making agencies.

Grant Eligibility

An individual submits a grant application on his/her own behalf, and not on behalf of a group, company, institution or government. Individuals sign the grant application and its associated certifications, along with assurances that are required and necessary for the application process. Signing up as an individual will only allow you to avail of the grant programs that are open only to individuals. Each grant has special instructions and program guidelines on how to prepare an application. Any citizen of the US or US Territory who has resided in the US or US Territory for at least 3 years preceding an application can apply and be eligible for a grant.

Educational Assistance for Single Mothers

Other forms of assistance include educational grants, scholarships for single moms, job training, and career development programs to assist single mothers in obtaining their G.E.D., a college degree or vocational training. Other sites provide employment help for single mothers, such as assistance in resume writing, job application and interview skills as well as job hunting resources.

Medical Assistance for Single Mothers

Medical assistance for single mothers can be in the form of medical financial aids, which can be availed of during pregnancy with prenatal classes and medical care from birth through childhood. Various government sponsored nutrition and programs for single mothers, such as cooking and menu planning promote healthy children without the burden of increased costs.

Where do I Even Start Looking for Them?

Along with the Internet, the public library is a no fee resource for finding different types of financial aid for single mothers. Local, state and federal government websites can provide you with the information that you need for programs for single mothers. Government websites can also provide ways to find financial assistance, as well as helping one obtain housing, health care, food and medical care.

Financial aid for single mothers includes a multitude of programs, which range from housing assistance, home improvement programs, educational opportunities to health care. The government has a vested interest in your success. These programs are in place to assist you. We firmly believe that one of the best investments you can make is in yourself by applying for grants and scholarships for single mothers. The American Dream can be yours.

In the United States, there are all sorts of government grants for single mothers or financial aid available through either the Federal Welfare Service or through private organizations. But unfortunately, not all single mothers are able to take advantage of these special single mother grants. More often than not, it is only those who are earning below a certain level who are able to qualify and avail of these single mother grants and financial aid benefits.

Take Action

In order for any single mother to determine if they can qualify for these financial aids, they first have to contact their local Federal Welfare Service. They will then be required to fill out an application form at their local Welfare office.

But aside from the Federal Welfare Service that offers these financial assistance, there are many schools offering scholarships specifically for single mothers. If you want to learn more about this kind of single mother grants, you will need to contact the school’s financial aid office to see if they offer such scholarship.

You Have Options

The best way for a single mother to find out more about scholarships is by contacting the State Department for Higher Education, their local High School Guidance Office, as well as querying through the internet. As a single mom earning a salary is very important, you may want to consider colleges and universities offering online courses for those who need to work but want to improve their education. If you happen to be a single mom who’s working and going to school at the same time, it may be worth it to talk to your employer to see if they have any scholarships available.

There are also private organizations which offer single mother grants and other financial assistance for single mothers and information relating to these organizations can be found online.

Contact your local Federal Welfare Service office, or take a look around the internet today and see what financial aid for single moms you can find. You may even find yourself going back to school to get those qualifications that you wanted, thus improving your chances of getting a better paying job.
